Boosting users adoption of Dynamics 365 at Bekaert

Change management plays a central role in technology adoption

April 22, 2021

When implementing or migrating to Microsoft Dynamics 365, adoption and employees behavioural changes are key to success. Business Elements combines FastTrack and certified change management approach to help organizations navigate this transition.

David Hachez, Change management Chapter Lead at Business Elements, explains how he supports change at Bekaert; "Our mission at Bekaert is to ensure the successful consolidation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 in the cloud for more than 400 users around the world.

We started by co-creating the vision together with the product owners, the so-called North Star, and by making sure everyone was aligned. At Business Elements, as a Gold Microsoft Partner, we follow the Success by Design framework from Microsoft combined with the PROSCI model (ADKAR) to address the heterogeneity of the users community."

Defining success with the customer

"Success by Design for Dynamics 365" guides the implementation through a series of assessments at critical stages to ensure optimal architecture, security, performance, and user experience for a Dynamics 365 solution. The framework is designed around three core principles:

  • Early discovery
  • Proactive guidance
  • Predictable success

The Success by Design framework spans four critical stages of the implementation journey:

  • Initiate
  • Implement
  • Prepare
  • Operate

Each stage starts with a workshop.

Boosting users adoption of Dynamics 365

"The major part of the change management is about educating users. We follow a structured model named ADKAR to guide end-users through the migration and adoption as it impacts their role, focusing on the people component of the change effort."

"First, we started by assessing the knowledge and the awareness of all the users across the different Business Units. Then, we developed a twofold action plan including a communication plan and a training plan to address all skills gaps. We built a tailor-made tutorial library and arranged workshops and exercices to empower users and make sure they embrace change."
